Day 208 - Getting Momma

I sat on the floor against the front door with my camera and waited for Nathan to charge me with his push toy. Great fun, apparently, for a 16 month old boy.

Day 205 - It's My Lucky Day!

Yesterday, in the car on the way home from her final swim meet of the year, Sarah Kate told me that she'd never seen a rainbow before. Tonight, when we came out of church, guess what we saw? A double rainbow.

"It's my lucky day!" she exclaimed. I just scrambled for my camera.

My lens wasn't wide enough to capture the whole thing, but it was a full arc from left to right.

Day 203 - The Reject

I shot a few frames of the kids together today for the sole purpose of sending one to a friend who needs a little pick-me-up right now. I saved that one just for her, but this is one of the rejects.

I tried so hard to snap an iPhone shot of my two watching Boomerang together, but my little stinker knows a camera when he sees one.

Day 201 - On The Move

I had trouble deciding which image I liked better, and also which processing style I liked best. I like the heel kicked up in the top photo, but I think the bottom one tells the story better.

Day 200 - Long Distance Friends

iPhone capture from last week when our friends were in town. I had forgotten that I took it, as my friend was shooting with her DSLR so this was the only shot I took.

Day 199 - New Territory

We brought Nathan outside to the driveway with his push toy for the first time today. It's been too unbearably hot to do it up until now. He loved it, but that little stinkus didn't want to stay in the driveway - he wanted to head out on the street.

Day 198 - RAIN!

It finally rained this weekend - including most of today. I took this right as I came out of church - good thing I keep my camera in the car!

Day 197 - Running Into the Surf

Okay, so she isn't really running. And unless there's a hurricane bearing down us, true surf is hard to come by along the Gulf Coast. And while we're on the subject of inaccuracies, I didn't even shoot this photo (although I did do all of the post-processing, so it's not entirely "stolen").

But I love it.

Day 196 - Friends and Fun in Fairhope

We have friends in town this week and we went down by the bay to take some photos at sunset. Brothers and sisters aren't always cooperative with posed shots, but can at least laugh about it.

Sarah Kate with her friend, BH, at the GCAAL Jr. Championships swim meet on Saturday. Both of them set new personal records in their events.

Day 190 - Cheers and Ears

As I posted this week over at Bringing the Sunshine, Sarah Kate decided she wanted to have her ears pierced. I told her that if she broke one minute in the freestyle at her swim meet this week, I'd take her to have it done.

She swam it in 51 seconds.

There are SO many better fireworks shots floating around today that I'm almost embarrassed to post this one, but considering I handheld my point-and-shoot for a 1 second exposure I'd say it's better than expected.

Day 184 - Arbor Day 2009

When Sarah Kate was in Kindergarten, all of the kids received a tiny crepe myrtle to take home on Arbor Day.  It was so small that she brought it home in a snack-size brown paper bag.  We planted it and this year it finally blossomed.

Day 183 - Push It

So...while still enjoying the high of Sarah Kate's tremendous swimming achievement (cutting her backstroke time in half since last season), I told a friend who was doing the Chesapeake Bay Swim (4+ miles!) that when she finished I would commit to a triathlon.  I've got one on my calendar, but the problem is I've had no time to ride because of having both kids home all summer.

Enter the mag trainer, delivered by FedEx and set up on the back porch today by Mr. Andi.

I'm all set.  Set to push outside my comfort zone and attempt something new.
