Day 120 - Unsung Heroes
There are many unsung heroes working day and night to assist the many people impacted by the deadly tornado outbreak that occurred this week in my home state of Alabama and others across the southeastern U.S. A few of those heroes are seven men from here in my hometown who drove 350 miles to help restore power. Mr. Andi took this photo of their trucks this morning.
Please continue to keep the victims, their families and friends, and all who are giving of themselves to help their fellow men, in your prayers.

Day 118 - The Small Things
I struggled to decide what to post today. It's been a long 24+ hours. Yesterday, I watched the horrific storms live on television, knowing my family and friends were in harm's way; today, I've seen the news reports coming out of the storm-ravaged areas and spoken with friends and family members who are there. As I learn of the devastation and watch the death toll continue to rise in my state - in cities and towns where I've lived, worked, and have loved ones still - I just can't bring myself to post a photo of my smiling boy. Not today.
Instead, I chose something mundane - cloth diapers drying on the rack in my backyard. Line dried diapers are one of the many simple joys in life that I don't always appreciate.
Today, I appreciate the small things.

Day 111 - Through My Daughter's Eyes
Yesterday, I took Sarah Kate on her very first photo walk. Instead of posting one image of my own today, I'm posting our favorites (some mine, some hers, some both) from the photos that she took yesterday and edited (with a little bit of help) this morning.
All images shot using Canon Powershot SD1100iS in jpeg format and edited with Adobe Lightroom 3.

Day 110 - Photo Walk
Two photos today: Sarah Kate has expressed interest in photography, so I let her use my little Canon point-and-shoot and we went on a photo walk late this afternoon.

Day 109 - Home Run
I'm posting this photo in homage to the special ball player I wrote about in my blog, Bringing the Sunshine, earlier today.

Day 105 - Uranus
Sarah Kate had to build a model of Uranus this week for a school project. The jokes between Mr. Andi and I have been never-ending.
"Did you know that Uranus is covered in methane gas?"
"I'm ready to be done with Uranus."
"Sarah Kate, how's Uranus looking?"
You get the picture.

Sorry, fans of Nathan - no boy photo today. Instead, I've got a peek at another little project I've been working on...

Day 97 - Apples
I know everyone prefers to see my smiling boy over a bowl of apples, but I'm working on my macro skills. I promise more boy (or girl) tomorrow!

Day 94 - Move That Bus!
And a call for help... :)
I was all ready to purchase a big entertainment wall system and then....our washer died. Instead of just replacing it, we went ahead and bought a dryer, too (and a nice set at that). So I decided I'd start looking for a buffet or dresser I could repurpose. Found this beauty on Craigslist and brought it home today!
Now...I need some ideas for filling up the space on that super-long-goes-on-forever wall. All ideas welcome, and links with pics are even better!

Day 91 - The Torch
Our local Special Olympics competition was this morning. The Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run starts off the games by running the torch into the stadium. This year, Mr. Andi led the officers and other run participants, pushing Nathan - our "future Special Olympian".
